| Downtown Denver, top commercial real estate |
The City of Denver is the capital of Colorado and, with a population of 560,000, it is the largest city in the state. Denver is the urban center of the larger metropolitan area of nearly 3million people, ranking it as the 17th most populous U.S. metropolitan area. Denver carries two nicknames: "Mile High City" reflects its official elevation of 5,280 feet above sea level, while "Queen City of the Plains" honors its important role in the agricultural industry of the Great Plains stretching to the east.
Located at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountains,
Denver is the largest metropolitan area in a 600 mile radius - almost the size of old Europe. This location makes it a natural distribution point for goods and services to the Mountain states. This strategic geography also selects Denver as a center for federal agencies, employing more federal government workers than any other metropolitan area except for Washington D.C. Denver's global position and elevation gives it unique importance as a telecommunication hub. Businesses are able to communicate with financial markets around the world in the same business day by using a "one-bounce" satellite uplink to six continents. Denver International Airport is a modern transportation hub. At 53 square miles, it is larger than the island of Manhattan and its annual passenger traffic ranks it as the fourth busiest airport in America and tenth busiest in the world.

But Denver isn't all business. Blessed with 300 days of bright sunshine per year (more than San Diego or Miami Beach), Denver is a lively city with a great love of the outdoors. Denver boasts the nation's largest park system with more than 200 parks within the city limits, 90 golf courses and 850 miles of paved bike trails. Denver belongs to a select group of American cities with professional teams representing the four major sports: football, baseball, basketball and hockey. Downtown Denver is home to sports stadiums, the restored Lower Downtown ("LoDo") historic district of brewpubs, jazz clubs and restaurants, three college campuses and even the unique downtown amusement park, Elitch Gardens. With all of this social activity, Denver is consistently recognized as one of America's most desirable cities for singles.
Denver is also a cultural and sophisticated city, with one of the highest-educated populations in America and a great love of the arts. The Denver Art Museum recently doubled in size with a modern expansion, and the Denver Performing Arts complex is the second largest in the nation with ten individual theatres seating 10,000 people for theatre, symphony, opera and ballet. The Denver Zoo is the fourth most popular zoo in the nation and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science recently added a space museum and the world's most advanced digital planetarium.
